Rob Schmidt Barracano earned his B.F.A. from SUNY-Purchase and his M.F.A. as a Directing Fellow at the prestigious American Film Institute. A member of the DGA since 1999 and the WGA-East since 2009, he has worked on music videos and commercials as well as several feature films including Speed of Life (1999, Lionsgate) Crime and Punishment in Suburbia (2000, United Artists), Alphabet Killer (2008) and the “Right to Die” episode for Showtime’s Masters of Horror series. His films have screened at the Deauville, London, and Sundance Film Festivals, among others, and Stephen King named his Wrong Turn his favorite of the year of 2003. Prior to joining Emory, Schmidt-Barracano taught for NYU Grad Film, The New School Documentary Program and Champlain College.
