Media Production Minor
***New in Fall 2022
Students are required to take 7 courses.
There are 3 required prerequisites:
- FILM 101: Introduction to Film
- FILM 102: Introduction to TV & Digital Media
- FILM 107: Introduction to Digital Video
After taking the prerequisites, students can shape their own minor, choosing their remaining 4 required classes from all the possible courses in production.
At least one class for the minor must be at the 300 level.

Clusters
Students may choose to concentrate on a particular facet of media production by pursuing one of the defined clusters below. This is not required but merely one way of approaching the minor.
- FILM 101: Introduction to Film (fall and spring semesters, 3 sections ea.)
- FILM 102: Introduction to TV and Digital Media (fall and spring semesters, 1 section ea.)
- FILM 107: Intro to Digital Video (fall and spring semesters, 2 sections ea.)
- FILM 207: Narrative I (fall and/or spring semesters)
- FILM 278: Writing the Short Film (fall and spring semesters)
- FILM 307: Narrative II (fall semester)
Choose 1 course from the following:
- FILM 212: Film Producing (fall or spring semesters)
- FILM 213: Cinematography (fall semester)
- FILM 214: Viewing Black Girlhood (fall or spring semesters)
- FILM 378: Screenwriting (fall and spring semesters) FILM 479: Filmmaking Capstone (offered infrequently)
